The 7500 Series is 3M's best half mask and a favorite among workers who require a respirator for long periods of time or who require one for multiple projects. The 7500 series respirator uses easy-to-connect 3M cartridges and filters for easy compatibility. The Organic Vapor Cartridge 3M 6001 attaches to the 3M 6000 and 7500 series masks and is NIOSH-approved for a wide variety of organic vapors. If you are removing lead paint or asbestos, make sure to add a pair of 3M 2091 P100 (HEPA) Filters or 3M 7093 P100 Filters. Be sure to wear the mask for protection against lead dust created from grinding off old paint. Use the 3m 2097 filters that fit on the 3M 6000/3M 7500 series half masks, and the 3M 6000 full face respirators for protection against toxic dusts, such as lead and asbestos, and for mold cleanup and remediation. Wear the asbestos mask if you are working on older heating vents or ducts, popcorn ceilings, automotive brake linings or pipe insulation. Also, consider wearing the 3m full face respirator 6000 Series and the half face respirator that offer the highest level of protection.

The 3M 7500 Series Half Facepiece Respirator is made of soft silicone which conforms to a range of face shapes better than other materials, and debris or paint isn't as likely to stick to its slippery exterior.

NOTE: The 3M filters and cartridges are not included and will have to be ordered separately.

Ordering Notes:

When choosing your mask size, take into consideration your past experience purchasing hats or glasses. If you typically purchase larger or smaller sizes based on the size and shape of your face, consider doing so when selecting the size of your mask. Usually, customers with large faces or prominent noses use the large size, while the rest usually use the medium size.

How do you determine what size to order?

Companies like 3M and Moldex operate under the assumption that the majority of people have about the same sized face. Therefore roughly 85-90% of population will fit into a medium sized respirator. If you are one of the relatively small part of the population that fits into the small and large sizes, you already have an idea because of your previous experiences purchasing hats or safety glasses.

Because face shapes vary so much, the companies don’t have actual face size charts for their respirators. The only 100% for sure way of knowing the respirator is fitting perfectly is to do a Fit Test. This is a fairly involved process and usually only undertaken by large companies. But by covering the intake openings when you don your mask, you’ll get a good idea about the face seal.

Yes. The 2097 filters are compatible with the 7500 mask from 3M. Perfect combination for filtering fine particulate matter.

I am working with a carcass and bones which smell very bad. I would like to buy some kind of mask/respirator which can absorb such bad odor so that i can work comfortably for a long time. I would be grateful if you suggest me which is better for such kind of work.

Bad odors will generally be absorbed by the activated charcoal in a 3M 6001 organic vapor cartridge. These fit the 3M 7500 half mask respirator. Once fitted to the mask, and a good fit is assured, you should not smell or taste the offensive odors. Keep the mask and cartridges in a separate area from your operation, so as to minimize the smell being transferred to the mask.

How do you know what size to purchase?

A proper fit is just about the most important consideration for a respirator, especially when pesticides, lead, or other harmful substances are in the air. Unfortunately the only way to know for sure if your respirator has a good seal is to do an OSHA-approved fit test, and the test kits from 3M run about $235.00

The 3M FT-30 Bitrex Fit Test Kit allows you to test up to 150 employees. But if you are a small company or just want to buy a single mask, investing in the test can be prohibitively expensive.

Here is what we know.

We’re not willing to go out on a legal ledge either, but we can say the majority of people, as long as they don’t have facial hair in the area where the mask is in contact with the skin, can get a good fit with a medium-sized, high-quality flexible-faced respirator mask.

Masks such as the 3M 7500 Series have extremely flexible silicone facepieces that conform to the contours of your face. Only a fit test will tell you with any degree of certainly whether your mask is blocking all particles and fumes correctly, but these masks do provide a good fit for the majority of users.

If you can smell or taste the items you are trying to block out with your mask, it either doesn’t fit correctly, or it’s time to change filters.

Is this a good mask if you have facial hair?

Unfortunately this mask will not seal if the user has facial hair. Workers with facial hair will need to use a supplied air system like a PARP or a Low Pressure Supplied Air system.

How long does a cartridge last? Are we talking about a couple of hours, or a couple of weeks?

    1 answer
    1. Alan

      2016-06-28 17:46:37

It really depends on how heavy the usage is. If the cartridge is used for long periods and in heavier environments, then it'll need to be changed out sooner than most and vice-versa.

Unfortunately there is no indicator to tell when it needs to be switched out with the exception of smell. As time passes, the cartridge inevitably will start clogging and smells will seep through. At that point, it is time to change out the cartridge/filter.

Hope this helps and if you have any further questions, please contact us at 1-800-829-9580

I am interested in purchasing. Since I am female ( I am not petite, 5 ft 7 in and wear size large clothing) would you recommend small or medium?

    1 answer
    1. Ben

      2016-07-27 16:10:33

We would recommend testing the medium.
