Protecta AK205AG Retrieval Winch Video Transcript
Hi! This is Rick Pedley and welcome to PK Safety Supply. Today we're going to be looking at the Protecta AK205AG Confined Space Retrieval Winch. Now this winch is intended to be used with the AK105A tripod. It mounts to one of the legs. Just to make it a little bit easier, I've put it up on the table here so we can kind of look at what we're talking about.
The winch itself comes with 50 feet of cable, a double-locking snap hook, handle and mounting hardware to put it onto the leg. Now, this one is a little bit different than our DBI-SALA one in that it doesn't have a mating bracket that you can just take on and off. This uses the detent pins that are used when moving the legs in and out.
So the way this is put on is: we take the winch, and you can see that we've got a channel here -- more detailed pictures on our website, so please take a look -- and we slide it on. Once it's on, we're gonna take one of the detent pins and slide it in. Alright? Same at the other side. Once these two pins are in -- they have little keepers that keep the pin in, never going to come out -- once it's on the leg, the leg is fixed. I mean, you're not going to be moving this thing in and out, so I suggest you make whatever adjustments to the leg length that you ultimately want to have in advance. After that, we take the handle, which I kind of got stuck here… and the handle slides on like so, and once it's on, we slide the handle forward and it locks into place and now we can turn that.
So what we'll do now is set this up and show you how it goes back together again.
Ok, so I've taken the tripod off the table and put it on the ground here. I mention once again: these detent pins are the same ones that lengthen and shorten the legs, so it's a pretty good idea to get this on before you set this up. But now that I've set it up, I've tightened the cable up here and put it through this snatch block and carabiner. These come in our kit, or available separately if you'd like… and you know, there's the four anchor points here, but we're going to use this one over to the side because I think it lines up better with this. Then this hook is now over your hole and you can lower that way or you can crank that way. There's a pretty good brake on it. It's not going to be going anywhere. There's that little thing you can use to really stop it if you want, but that hasn't been necessary.
The other thing I want you to notice is that I've taken this chain and tightened it up and the way around so that this is ready for action. you could put this over your hole and start hauling people in our out right away.
