This Protecta brand AB17533 kit is from their FIRST line of economy fall protection products. What they have done with this combo is to remove the back d-ring and one of the snap hooks on the lanyard. Then the lanyard is looped through and sewn to the harness. This makes them one unit. The big upside to all this is less weight - 2 pieces of hardware gone, and less money
Our customers have said for years that having a case or bag is a big deal to them; keeps all the parts together, keeps it clean, and reduces the tangle you get with a webbing harness. Some have used a small suitcase, others a gym or duffel bag. Protecta has provided a heavy weight nylon bag (looks like Cordura) that just fits. The flap has a generous Velcro closure, and the back has 2 nylon webbing loops with snaps. This can be carried on your belt or mounted on the forklift or bucket truck. While not waterproof, protection from the weather and sun will help keep your investment in safety equipment protected. The assembly meets all applicable standards, including OSHA and ANSI Z359.
Total weight capacity of this combo is 310 lbs.
The underlying harness is equal to the Protecta AB17530 , and the lanyard is equivalent to the Protecta AE57610 .

Protecta Harness and Lanyard System Video Transcript
Hi, this is Rick Pedley and welcome to PK Safety.
Today we're going to be talking about the Protecta brand AB17533 Harness and Lanyard System with Bag.
Now, my friend Manny here is wearing the harness. This is a five-point adjustable fall protection harness. That means that we can adjust the chest, we can adjust the length of the torso and we can adjust the legs. So, it's five points of adjustment, which means that you can taylor this to a lot of different sized people. It's a so-called "universal harness," which means it fits most -- not everybody, certainly.
So, good harness. What's kind of unusual about this is, as I mentioned, we have the lanyard as well. So, standard six-foot long lanyard with double-locking snap hook meets all the standards. Shock-absorbing pack here to reduce the impact fall -- you're required to have these now. But right here is where it gets interesting. We've taken this harness and asked the to make it without a D-ring and no snap hook to attach the D-ring. So, this does two things: eliminates weight -- always a thing if you're going to be working on a roof or some other type of construction job, but also we've eliminated cost. So, this is relatively inexpensive. So, two pieces of hardware gone, and the thing is sewn together, so this thing is never coming apart. And really, when are you ever going to use a harness without a lanyard anyway?
So, the other thing that it comes with which is really cool is the bag. It's a heavy weight nylon bag with a hook and loop fastener on the front. Allows you to keep the entire assembly inside. Coated inside. Probably water resistant rather than waterproof. Has straps on the back with snaps, so you can mount this in your bucket truck or job box or wherever it might be. Some people even wear it on their waists ready to pull out.
Cool device. Well priced and very popular! Thank you!

Excellent Product Review by BGT
Purchased several of these combo kits for our rental yard. Harnesses are easy for even inexperienced persons to put on.
Have solved our past problems with either the lanyard or harness not being returned at the end of a rental, even though they were issued as a set.
Good product at a good price. (Posted on 3/17/2016)
Felt Secure Review by DanDog
I like how it makes you feel secure, while working on a high ladder. It easily adjusted to my size. It slips off by detaching 3 buckles. 1 on the chest and 2 on the thighs. (Posted on 6/10/2014)

No, it is never recommended to attach any retractable to another one. The manufacturer has tested and rated the attached lanyard on the harness already.
The harness doesn't have a specific life span. It must be visually inspected before each use and inspected annually by a competent person. If it passes inspection it can be used.
The Protecta harnesses and lanyards meet applicable ANSI standards for personal fall protection equipment. OSHA and CAL/OSHA do not approve fall protection products. They will however insist that your gear meets ANSI standards. For roofing applications, we generally see rope grabs being used. The Protecta AB17533 would be attached to that rope grab, and you should be just fine. Please be sure of your anchorage point. It should be strong enough (5,000 lb) and located to reduce or eliminate the possibility of a swing fall.
Yes, the AB17533 Harness is OSHA approved for use on an order picker in a warehouse.
