The ISI Frontier is an SCBA designed for simplicity of use. It is intended for industrial use. Perfect for emergency backup in refrigeration plants, pesticide storage, or hazardous waste handling applications. It is not, however, intended for use in firefighting applications. For that use, the standards of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) would apply, as would a much higher price.
The NIOSH approved Frontier SCBA has three major operating components: a pressure reducer, and Compact Demand Valve (CDV) and an end of service/low air alarm.
ISI’s new CDV is a high flow regulator (over 500 liters per minute) with low breathing resistance. This rate far exceeds the NIOSH and NFPA breathing rates. It’s size (industry’s smallest) helps provide an unobstructed view through the facemask or hood.
The low air alarm is a whistle mounted on the right shoulder strap attached to the air pressure gauge.
The lightweight composite backframe is durable and ergonomically designed for a comfortable fit. It can accommodate cylinders rated at 2216 or 4500 psi with cylinder durations of 30, 45 or 60 minutes. The quick release cylinder band allows for easy exchange of cylinders. The harnesses are removable for quick decontamination. Built in handles make carrying easy.
Choose between one of two facepieces for the
Frontier SCBA: the positive pressure AirHood or the standard single curve facemask.
The AirHood utilizes the CDV and allows users with facial hair or glasses to enter an immediately dangerous to life and health (IDLH) atmosphere and still comply with OSHA standards. The sealing surface is around the neck, and
adapts to two neck sizes. A polycarbonate visor with anti-fog coating provides a large, distortion free viewing area.
The conventional single curve facemask also utilizes the CDV, and has a four point harness adjustment. It is available in two sizes (Small or Med/Lrg). The single curve visor accepts overlays to protect the visor from scratches.
Both facepieces come with a manual bypass for emergency flow rate of 85 to 130 lpm. The standard aluminum cylinders have an indefinite life, but must be hydrotested every 5 years. Training, if needed, is not included in this price.
