Hi! This is Rick Pedley, and welcome to pksafety.com!
Today we're going to be looking at something a little small: a snatch block. And it's going to be used in a tripod situation like this. We have two that we use normally. The one that I'm talking about today is the 8003205. This is a pulley and a detent pin that holds it together. This is going to replace a more traditional snatch block and carabiner. This is usually what comes in our economy or contractors kit -- tripod. I'm going to suggest that this one might be a little easier. I'm just going to put these down here.
This one, all we do is put the detent pin and away it comes. This comes right off. So when we're putting this together, what I find really interesting is that we just drop that in, put it over the anchor point here, stick in the detent pin and you're good! There's two things I like about this. One is that it gives you a couple more inches of clearance because you don't have a carabiner in-between, and you can see that it's really easy to work with. If you've used one of the snatch blocks and carabiner type blocks, you'll see that a lot more fumbling is required to make them come together.
There are pictures of all this on our website -- you know, up close, so you can really see what the thing looks like. A pretty cool device which is also relatively inexpensive.
