DBI-SalaLift II Retrieval Winch Video Transcript

Hi, this is Rick Pedley and welcome to PK Safety Supply. Today we're going to be talking about the DBI-SALA SALALift II Confined Space Retrieval Winch.

This winch is used in conjunction with a tripod or other retrieval device to pull people out of confined spaces or lower them back in. This thing comes in a bag with a plywood bottom. It's pretty easy to carry around.

The unit itself -- kind of unique -- has a handle at the top, which makes it very easy to pick up. So we take this, grab it. We see that on the back, there's this connector plate. It matches up with the plate on the tripod. This quick disconnect has been pioneered by DBI and makes it really convenient to take it on and off. 'Cause the tripod's not light itself, and you add one of these and it's pretty heavy!

So we'll take this and just lower it onto the pins (and detailed pictures of all of these pieces are on our website, so you can see closeups). Once I've put it on those pegs, I can lean it forward and take this detent pin, put that in, and then that thing's locked in place and ready to go. The cable then goes over the top of the tripod and down into the hole.

This device has a capacity of 310lbs. It comes with a handle. There's two speeds on this. A high speed and a low speed, moving the cable fast or slow. But of course, you've got a lot of weight on it, so you're probably going to be using that slow speed.
