New Formulation!
A new formulation of the time tested DEET based insect repellant BugX from Coretex has allowed a reduction in the percentage of DEET to 30% from 55%. In cooperation with the leading manufacturer of the actual DEET chemical product, this new EPA approved water-based technology will give you more than 7 hours of protection. The reason for this shift has been a request from the CDC to minimize the percentage of DEET wherever possible. Canada has already established a 30% ceiling.
This newly approved BugX30 EPA formula allows the DEET to be released in a more controlled and measured manner, permitting longer lasting performance once obtained only by high concentrations of DEET. Water based formula is non-greasy and non-staining, with very little odor.
DEET based insect repellents, such as BugX30, have been shown to be the most effective way of repelling mosquitoes and ticks, providing the highest degree of protection against vector borne diseases such as Dengue Fever, West Nile Virus and Lyme Disease.
The most effective repellents contain DEET (N,N-diethyl-m-toluamide). Up to a point, the more DEET a repellant contains, the longer time it can protect you from mosquito bites. A higher percentage of DEET in a repellant does not mean your protection is better - just that it will last longer. DEET concentrations higher than 30% are no longer recommended to increase the length of protection. A product containing 20% DEET provides almost 4 hours, with 30% approaching 8 hours.
Foil pack contains 8" x 5" towelette with 7.8 grams of 30% DEET formula. Packed and sold in a wall mount dispenser of 50. This works out to about $0.65 per towelette/application.
