Hi, this is Rick Pedley and welcome back to PK Safety Supply.

Today we're going to be looking at the Leightning L3 Bilsom marketed through Sperian protection. The L3 is one of our most popular muffs -- a very popular and high quality product. The mask comes in the box here. The pair of muffs is protected in a plastic bag. You see some instructions and part numbers here.

One thing we like about these is that they have very soft cushions with a padded headband and a spring steel adjustment on the head. Spring steal, as opposed to plastic, gives a smoother function as you put it on your head. It's doesn't seem to press quite as much, and it's a little easier to adjust. The padded headband is nice because when the headband is on the top of your head, a lot of times if it's a hard material it's going to transmit sound through your head. So, the padding really helps there as well as being more comfortable.

The cushions, again, are very soft and they're replaceable. Inside they have a foam material, which is what is going to give you noise reduction when combined. The L3's have a relatively high noise reduction, and they detail this on the top and the panel. The L3 has an NRR of 30. The NRR is useful in comparison to other earmuffs -- they're all going to be compared to each other against a standard test. So, while the absolute number isn't that important on it's own, it's important in relation to other muffs. 30 is quite high and provides an awful lot of hearing protection.
