Oberon Arc Flash Suit

With the Oberon Arc Flash Suit we are offering an assembly designed to provide protection from arc flash heat exposures. Each suit consists of an Arc Flash Hood and either a full body Coverall or a combination of Coat and Bib-Overall Pants. We have each of these garments available separately, but this allows you to order a single item that has all the major clothing elements included.

Arc Flash Suits are just one part of a complete personal protective equipment approach to Arc Flash safety. This starts with FR Undergarments, moves up through FR Dailywear and includes Voltage Rated Gloves. A thorough assessment of the predicted incident energy is the only way to reliably offer adequate protection to your employees.

Each of the suits we offer exceeds the requirements of NFPA 70E for the particular Hazard Risk Category (HRC). The materials used in the manufacture of these suits are inherently Flame Resistant (FR), as opposed to Flame Resistant Treated (FRT) cotton. What this means for you is that these products will retain their protective properties for the life of the garment, while FRT cotton is degraded with each washing.

These high technology lightweight and proprietary fabrics (up to 30% lighter than FRT fabrics) can reduce heat stress. All fibers used in the construction of these garments are inherently flame resistant, including the thread. The coats and coveralls feature Nomex sleeve cuffs and double front closures with FR zipper tape and Dupont Nomex Velcro safety flaps. The bib-overalls include FR suspenders and an expandable pleat at the waist for adjustable fit and comfort. Both the bib-overalls and coveralls feature wide pant legs that are easy to slide on and off. There are no open pleats that could compromise safety if not properly closed. The hood window is manufactured with Oberon’s proprietary ArcX energy absorbing polycarbonate material and is coated to be scratch resistant outside and antifog inside.

Standards Compliance: ANSI Z87.1-2003, NFPA 70E-2004 & ASTM F1506-02a. Tested according to ASTM F1959-05a & ASTM F2178-02. NFPA 70E Article 130.7(C)(1) requires that an employee working within the Flash Protection Boundary wears protective clothing and other personal protective equipment. Note: PPE should be chosen to meet or exceed the expected incident energy at the potential work site.
