This Oberon Arc Flash Suit - the ARC65 Gold - is the lightest weight suit designed with this level of protection, weighing in at a mere 12 pounds. Manufactured with fabric up to 50% lighter than FRT fabrics, the ARC40 suit is made with 20% melamine and 80% inherently FR aramid. These proprietary fabrics can help reduce heat stress.
The clothing arc rating (ATPV) is 70 cal/cm², providing protection for every lineman, electrical contractor, thermographer, industrial electrician, or anyone working within the proximity of an energized circuit, from arc flash heat exposures. The suit exceeds the requirements of NFPA 70E Hazard Risk Category 4 (HRC4), up to 70 cal/cm². The NFPA 70E standard was created to reduce the risk of injury associated with Arc Flash incidents.
Injury reports show that there are approximately 10 Arc Flash incidents every day in the United States and up to 3 fatalities. Oberon prides itself in providing high quality and long lasting protection for electrical workers. The scratch resistant coating on the face shield increases the lifespan of the shield 5 to 10 times longer than a similar uncoated shield. The ARC65 suit will also retain it’s inherently flame resistance even after years of laundering. Every material, down to the thread, is inherently flame resistant.
The ARC65 Arc Flash suit features Nomex® sleeve cuffs and double front closures with flame resistant zipper tape and Dupont® Nomex® Velcro® safety flap on the coats and coveralls. The bib-overalls also include FRT suspenders along with an expandable plat at the wait for a completely adjustable fit and ultimate comfort.
The ARC65 meets or exceeds the requirements of the following standards compliance: ANSI Z87.1-2003, NFPA 70E-2004 & ASTM F1506-02a. The Arc Flash Suit was also tested according to ASTM F1959-05a and ASTM F2178-02.
