ARC100B Suit – Hazard Risk Category 4 (HRC4) Ballistic (112 cal/cm² ATPV)
27.2 oz 57% para-aramid, 19% meta -aramid, 19% melamine and 5% polybenzimidazole
Oberon broke new ground and developed and tested the first suit to provide ballistic protection. ASTM is just starting to work on a standard, so Oberon used the National Institute of Justice Ballistic Resistance of Personal Body Armor NIJ Standard 0101.04 to evaluate the ARC100B suit.
The suit is not intended for use as a bulletproof vest. This standard is the beginning to a new era in high-level arc protection. The window and suit tested to a V50 of 712 ft/sec with a ballistic threat using a .22" fragment, and 789 ft/sec with a .308" fragment. Only Oberon, in combination with their ArcX polycarbonate window, can now provide this level of protection for a complete suit. A propionate window cannot provide this level of impact protection.
