Hi, this is Rick Pedley and welcome to PK Safety Supply.
Today we're going to be looking at the Ansell HyFlex 11-501. This is a cut resistant glove with a kevlar lining and a foam nitrile coating.
Now this 11-501 is a very popular cut resistant glove. The liner is made from the so-called "Intercept Technology" yarn jointly developed by DuPont and Ansell. This thing incorporates the DuPont Kevlar Stretch Armor Technology. This gives you remarkable cut resistant and excellent dexterity.
So, the glove has a stretchiness to it. You can pull it on and it conforms to your hand quite well. This particular one is a size 9. It seems to fit me a little bit better, but I usually wear a size 8.
So the nitrile coating on the palm is resistant to oils and solvents and whatnot. So if you pick up an oily part, it's not going to slip on you like it would if you were working with a PVC or a latex coating. The kevlar liner is quite a bit heavier than their 11-500. Instead of a level 2 cut resistance, this one has a level 4, which is quite high. It's not the highest, 5, but it is quite high. So things that are going to come across your hand while you're gripping something -- very important -- or if something cut along the palm, this will help you resist that. Of course, like we say always, they're cut resistant, not cut proof! But if you're doing sheet metal assembly with, for instance, and the pieces of metal are maybe a bit oily, this is going to give you that grip, but if one of those sharp edges were to cut, this would be pretty darn resistant.
Very popular glove. A little pricey, but you get what you pay for. There you go!
