The Memphis 1411A is a work glove made with select shoulder cowhide leather. What makes this glove a little different is an extra layer of leather on the palm, offering extra protection in critical wear areas. This is particularly good for jobs involving heavy abrasion across the palm, such as handling rebar or pulling cable.
The 1411A is a variation on the
Memphis 1400A, and offers all the same features, with the added patch of leather sewn on to the palm. This means up to twice the wear in a central area. Basically made to answer the problem of having the palm wear out before the rest of the glove. Though this does affect the flexibility of the glove for more general tasks.
The Select Shoulder grade of leather is denser and longer wearing than most commonly available styles. Leather that is dense has a more tightly packed web of interlinking fibers, and that makes the glove more resistant to abrasion, which in turn makes the glove last longer on the job.
The 1411A uses the Gunn Cut style. This features a shirred elastic back for a good fit across the back of the glove, leather across the knuckles, thumb and forefinger, fingertips, with a 2-1/2" plasticized safety cuff.
